If you are looking for a place where you can feel the spirit of the medieval ages, then King House is great choice. King House is a magnificently restored Georgian Mansion built around 1730 for Sir Henry King. His family was one of the most powerful and wealthy in Ireland.
At the end of the 19th century, the House became a military barracks for the Connaught Rangers until 1922. After that it has been used as a merchant store, before being restored to its original Georgian style by Roscommon County Council.
Currently King House is one of the most admirable by tourist place in Ireland. You can explore the period rooms and discover their charm, visit the chilly jail cells, or enjoy the exhibitions, designed for both adults and children.
Tours in the house are self-guided. During the tour you will encounter sound effects, hand-on family activities, life-size historical figures that will make you feel the spirit of the epoch.
For groups there are guides available in different languages. There is also an option to hire the House for a venue – wedding, conference, meeting or other occasion.
