Built in 2009, the angling jetties and boardwalk will last for years and are ideal for tackling this stretch of the River Shannon with whatever method you choose. Local anglers have enjoyed lively sport and brought every style into play while catching bream, quality roach, hybrids and large perch. The river is at least 100 metres wide and depths up to eight metres.

Bream at Battle Bridge
Highly regarded for its outstanding fishing for spring roach – when huge shoals congregate prior to spawning – this picturesque narrow stretch of the River Shannon produced good fishing for most of the year. It is easily accessible section of Ireland’s longest river and so narrow you can cast a waggler to the far bank, though a stick float is the key to putting a nice net of roach together. Bream are often caught during summer months together with an occasional tench. There are a handful of easily accessible swims to be found below the lock gate.
